The continuous work for the poor was once again manifested last September 9, 2017, as a turnover ceremony was conducted for the new home partners in Villa Leonora, Buguey, Cagayan.
The site was named CFC-Mississauga West ANCOP-Canada Tambuli Community. This community is composed of 35 houses standing in a 2-hectare land.
In the program, the Local Government unit of Buguey, and officials in Villa Leonora expressed their gratitude for the CFC ANCOP, specifically their donors from CFC ANCOP Canada, who generously gave what they have to build homes for those in need.
On the other hand, Bro. Ricky Cuenca inspired the home partners by encouraging them to always have their faith to the Lord and to always pray for their donors as much as they pray for them.
It was an emotional day for the home partners for they didn’t expect that from nipa, bamboo and light materials, they would be living in a concrete house.
“Masaya po, kasi mas safe na po yung titirhan naming bahay. Nagpapasalamat po kami sa mga tumulong sa amin” (We are happy because we can live in a safer house. We are grateful to those who help us) shared by Margie Mirafuente, who was part of the officers of the community’s “Samahan”.
Sis. Cecilia Pagador, Head of the Shelter program in Cagayan narrated: “Kasi kung makikita mo yung mga bahay nila, it is not even a house, it is just a shelter where they can stay. Mahirap kapag umuulan o bumabagyo kasi hindi safe, ang tinitirhan nila kasi ay nipa” (If you would see their houses, it is not even a house, it is just a shelter where they can stay. It is a struggle when there is rain or typhoon because it is not safe, for they stay on a nipa). She added that this blessing is a matter of faithfulness to the Lord.
The first day in the area was celebrated with a “salo-salo” of the home partners in their respective houses.
The mission was continued the next day, September 10 with a Christian Life Program Orientation. Bro. Ricky Cuenca, a CFC International Council member and CFC ANCOP Canada President spearheaded the Orientation in the municipality of Gonzaga in Cagayan. He explained the essence of the Christian Life Program (CLP) of CFC and encourage the attendees to rekindle their faith to the Lord.
Truly the weekend exemplified the two pillars of Couples for Christ – that is to build the church of the home and building the church of the poor.
