2020 Calgary CFC-ANCOP Basketball Tournament

The 2020 edition of the CFC Calgary North – ANCOP basketball tournament is off to a terrific start. The opening ceremony was held at the Volleydome gymnasium last January 26, 2020. The ceremony was graced by our CFC elders headed by our Sector Head Bro. Manny Cañete, North A Cluster Head Bro Jay Antasuda as well as Bro. Ernie and Sis. Beng Canci  CFC Sector Calgary  –  ANCOP coordinators

With our pastoral theme “Fellowship and Charity”, the goal of the tournament is to raise funds for ANCOP as CFC Calgary commits to further their work with the poor. This year’s tournament expanded to eight teams composed of four CFC Chapters, two Singles for Christ, two CFC-Youth teams equally divided between the North Calgary and South Calgary areas. A total of 107  basketball players participated in the said tournament. The $10 registration fee for each player and all the net savings generated after the tournament will go directly to ANCOP Canada.

This year’s basketball tournament was made possible through the generous efforts of the organizers led by Bro. Alex McFarlane, under the guidance of our CFC  North A Cluster Head Bro. Jay Antasuda. The event organizers are grateful for the help of  Bro. Randie Reyes for coordinating the production of basketball. The overwhelming response of all the players to participate in the tournament greatly contributes to the success of the event.

The tournament started with praise and worship, led by  Bro. Gio Ramirez.

The teams who won at the first-day game (SFC North, CFC South B, YFC South, and CFC North 2A)  are set to play against each other as the tournament continues.
