I just wanted to share with you that the first pit stop and best highlight of my June 2016 Philippines vacation after 24 years, only my 3rd trip home out of my 35 years here in Canada, was meeting my eldest child sponsor Jason Casimiro from Manila, whom I have been sponsoring for 6 years now.
It has been a humbling experience to finally meet one of my two boys I have as Child Scholars through ANCOP. Jason was so quiet and all smiles. He is a very handsome young man. I truly enjoyed my day trip, Starbucks treat and lunch at Epicurious at Shangri-la at Mega Mall with Jason, his aunt and sister Chery of ANCOP Manila. As a gift of goodwill, I gave Jason a new backpack, school supplies, a package of chocolates and a Canadian t-shirt. I gave sister Chery some school supplies to be forwarded to my youngest child sponsor Lloyd Gomez from Davao so he also has something for school.
My meeting Jason with my niece May and two close friends from my high school years in La Union, Jane and Babette, got them to see first hand that at the end of the day, they saw me helping a child get a better education, have hope for a good future and a life to live for all together. I saw how they became so attentive to Jason who seem so timid and shy getting all the attention from all of us. As a mother, the love you have for your own children is a feeling no words can describe. Well, meeting Jason in person, I was at a lost for words to describe the feeling. I told his aunt not to cry so I don’t cry as well. I have tears in my eyes writing this little blurb, as I was brought back to that moment in time when I first met him.
Jane and Babette afterward where saying that they will contact me when they are ready to sponsor a child. One of my best friend from California who saw our photos that I posted on FB, sent me a private message because she felt guilty that she cancelled her sponsorship to her scholar. We spoke upon my return and I was able to share with her the happiness I felt and the humbling heart of gratitude that to this day lingers that I am a part of Jason and Lloyd’s lives. These feelings are so worth it, especially upon seeing the smile and hug I received from Jason personally. I told her that meeting your scholar personally will melt your heart to pieces, full of love, happiness, joy and gratitude.
Meeting Jason prompted me as well to open my heart to sponsor two more children, Jamaica and Janica. I just hope and pray that the Lord continue to grant sustainability of the blessings he grately showers me with so I can continue to be a blessing to these children, my scholars. I also pray that I will be given another chance to meet Jason again and to meet in person Lloyd, Jamaica and Janica in the future, God willing!
With this, may the Lord be praise and glorified. I continue to thank the Lord for his love and mercy.
