The 2018 Edmonton’s ANCOP Walk Kick-off launching was held on April 7, 2018, Saturday, at 7 p.m. at the church Hall of The Catholic Parish of Corpus Christi, south east of Edmonton where more than 300 CFC members and some guests gathered. The launching was made as a prelude to the “Live2Worship” concert which features the performance of the different musical groups of CFC and Family Ministries organized for the purpose of enhancing the musical talents of CFC members. It was also a fitting celebration of Mercy Sunday a week after Easter.
A presentation of the video entitled “In Your Hands” showing the disabled and handicapped ANCOP scholars from Kenya moved the hearts of the audience while the video showing the different shelter projects in the Philippines and the stories of the 3 scholars brightened the hearts with a round of applause from the audience. The audience was in awe to hear the encouraging results of the 2017 ANCOP events namely: Lenten Cards offering, the Annual ANCOP Walk, SFC Concert and Christmas carolling held in Edmonton. Greg Parillas, ANCOP Area Coordinator, reported that from 157 CSPs in 2013, the number of scholars sponsored by Edmonton reached to 306 at the end of 2017. He also mentioned about the new Shelter project of ANCOP Edmonton with 30 units to be constructed inside the Moonwalk Village, Paranaque City for the benefit of those homeless families squatting along the river bank of the City. He encouraged the audience to support all the events lined up for 2018 particularly the Annual ANCOP Walks in Lloydminster, Alberta – August 11, 2018, Central Alberta in Camrose – August 18, 2018 and Edmonton on August 25, 2018. With the new fundraising goal set for the 2018 ANCOP Walk, Greg posed the challenge to raise $70,000 as the goal for Edmonton, $7,000 for Central Alberta and $2,250 for the new area, Lloydminster, Alberta.
After the ANCOP Walk launching, the audience and guests participated in the praise and worship led by the Live2Worship CFC bands and various musical groups and dancers. It was indeed a night to remember having witnessed the launching of ANCOP’s very worthy and noble cause and celebrating Christ’s victory on the cross and His resurrection.
