My name is Rev. Fr. Peter Gishure, parish priest of St. Therese Parish located at Mois Bridge, Eldoret, Kenya. Four years ago, I established a home called St. Anne Matunda Home. Deep in my heart, I want to help children with physical and mental challenges to have a safe home. Most of the children in my home are the children left by their parents in the street and churches. Some of them were even thrown away –and worst, others opt to kill them due to shame.
At St. Anne Home, most of the children are orphans or have not seen their parents who abandoned them. It is also very unfortunate that the government does little in supporting the needs of the children. We survive through the help of kindhearted Christians, our bishop and well wishers who come and visit our home.
In our home, children are fed, clothed and are given spiritual nourishment to prepare them to face the future with hope through education. As of today, we have 21 kids but as the number grows, there are challenges on how we will be able to sustain the home especially if illness strikes.
I have seen Christ in the faces of these children and it is my desire to continue guiding them as well as to give them decent life and see life with hope.
It is for this reason that I am writing this to THANK YOU for your generosity as you have brought back the smiles on the faces of these children knowing that there is someone whom they do not know who have shown LOVE and CARE for them. Words are not enough to thank all of you but surely we will include all of you in our daily masses and prayers. In Swahili we say, ASANTINI SANA (Thank you very much!)
May God’s blessings of love be with you and your family.
In the name of Christ,
Fr. Peter Gishure
