Toronto’s Mayor John Tory addressed the crowd estimated at 600 and swelled to 1,000 after his speech and close to 1,300 when the walk started.
Mayor Tory talked about the F’s in almost all Filipino events, fun, food, family but emphasized on faith to a crowd mostly members of the Catholic community, Couples for Christ.
He also recalled many moments with Filipinos even from past experiences and also acknowledged the late Senator Jun Enverga as a beacon of hope for people who cared about each other and this community.
The mayor also gave his gratitude to the ANCOP officers, organizers and its supporters for being a caring community that he has so much affection and respect for. His speech is shared below.
